Q: What if the package was configured incorrectly during a backup and restore?
A: The package integrity checker can check a disk image package file for errors during the package installation. During this check, the package file is converted to a VMware VM image. The integrity checker executes the check after the package is converted to the VM image. If there are any errors, a message is displayed that the package is corrupted. You must resolve these errors before continuing with the installation. You can attempt to repair the package by running the command as described in the next section.
When an installation of a package fails, the errors are logged to the vCenter Server Appliance event log. These errors are listed as startup errors in the VMC startup events log, located at /var/log/vmware/vmid/vmidd.log. You can view these errors in the vSphere Client by navigating to Monitoring > Operations > VMC > Startup Events and by selecting a startup type, such as startup, in the box at the top of the screen.
